Welcome to the International Conference on the Status and Future of the World‘s Large Rivers website!


It is already almost three years since the first World's Large Rivers Conference took place in Vienna, Austria. As agreed there, the next World's Large Rivers Conference takes place in



Manaus / Amazonas / Brazil from 21-25 July 2014

This conference will be organised by Naziano Filizola

(UFAM Universidade Federal do Amazonas, Manaus, Brazil)

and Helmut Habersack

(BOKU University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria).




Special Information: it is also planned to produce Special Issues with conference contributions in the Journals “Hydrological Processes” (HP), “Hydrobiologia”, “Environmental Science and Pollution Research” (ESPR) and “River Systems”. Interested authors will be kindly asked to extend their conference contributions to journal papers.
